Welcome to Pure Chiropractic’s Sports Injury Blog- Nanaimo

Well hello there! We’re super excited to launch the first post to our Sports Injury Blog. Here, you will find the latest in training methods, injury prevention and treatment, and up to date research in sport nutrition.
We’ll also cover all the typical injuries that you encounter in sports, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome, ACL tears, shin splints, varous forms of tendonitis and much, much more.
So who am I to be giving you such advice? That’s a great question. My name is Dr. Jason Hare. I’m a chiropractor that has recently set up Nanaimo’s newest chiropractic clinic, Pure Chiropractic. I completed my chiropractic education at the highly regarded Palmer College of Chiropractic. This was the very first chiropractic school, established in 1897. During my time there I served on the Palmer Sports Council and provide on-site care to athletes on the field. Following my Doctorate in Chiropractic, I was invited to stay on at the university to teach anatomy. I did this at the same time that I worked on my Masters degree.
After this, I moved to London, UK where I worked in some of the busiest practices in all of Europe. I had a heavy emphasis in sports practice. Some of the higer end athletes that I have cared for are two England national rugby players, two Australian national rugby players, a world number two cyclist, a Britain’s stongest man competitor, high end body builders, and an internationally competitive gymnast. After 8 years practice in the UK, I have returned to Canada to form Pure Chiropractic.
And I’m not unfamiliar with sports on a personal level (or sports injuries for that matter). In my youth I was a competitive swimmer. Ironically, this came after failing swimming lessons three times! During my time in the UK I tried my hand at open water distance swimming and placed third in the 3km division of the British Open Water Swimming Championships. But my main passion is triathlon and I can regularly be found training in and around Nanaimo.
So there you are. If you were looking for the place to come for good advice on sports chiropractic, this is it. I look forward to connecting with you. Take a quick moment and say hello in the comments below.

  1. Athletes today are in the most competitive environment we have ever seen. Chiropractic care plays a vital role in musculoskeletal performance, prevention of injury, and recovery from injury. That’s why so many pro athletes are turning to chiropractic care.

  2. The treatment for most sports injuries is straightforward and standard.3 For strains and sprains that involve only mild to moderate swelling and pain, the time-honored RICE protocol is followed – rest, ice, compression, and elevation.

But there are other issues, and every patient needs to be aware of these possibilities. In one of the unusual chains of circumstances that make the practice of medicine and the practice of chiropractic so interesting, a physical trauma (like a sports injury) can reveal an underlying serious problem.
